I hope everyone is having a great weekend.
One of my favorite authors, Francesca Lia Block, has started a 30 Poems in 30 Days challenge, starting today. If you want to join the challenge, all you have to do is comment over on her blog under the poems she posts each day for the challenge.
I thought I’d also post the poems I share here as well.
Here’s Day 1:
A dancing princess under a midnight sky
twinkling in the darkness, she dances to make
her mind wander away from her broken garnet pieces
set on fire by a spark – then—
the ribbon of love torn in half,
trees— they whisper to her, singing the melody to her harmonied heart,
as they sweep away the pieces with a cool September wind.
I wrote this poem without any clear idea of what I was going to write about. This happens often, though I find it a good challenge to think of something specific and write about it.
To check out what Francesca and others have shared (or to share your own poem) you can check it out on her blog
And before I go, I thought I’d share my favorite poem, “Annbel Lee,” by Edgar Allan Poe.
I hope you have a fabulous Saturday night!
